Website Developer / Designer
(Pro-Bono position)
About Us
We are a mission-driven team of investigators, analysts, lawyers, and technologists who volunteer our time to lead impactful investigations, develop open source tools and train others to empower them to do the same.OSINT for Ukraine uses OSINT to investigate international crimes, combat disinformation, and support justice and civil society.
Role Overview
We’re looking for a Website Developer / Designer (Volunteer) to help us build a functional, visually engaging, and strategically designed website that clearly communicates who we are and what we do. The goal is to make complex information, including OSINT and analytical content, accessible and visually understandable for a broad audience.
The ideal candidate is both creative and structured: someone who can organize a complex information architecture while ensuring the site feels dynamic, intuitive, and easy to navigate. We’d like to develop a platform that can grow with us, adapt to new ideas (like memberships, consulting, or newsletters), and evolve as our project develops.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop a functional, responsive, and scalable website.
Translate complex information (e.g. OSINT visuals, research, or analysis) into a clear, visually appealing presentation.
Build a legible and intuitive information architecture that guides users through key sections and connects them naturally to our social media, newsletter, and other platforms.
Create a design that feels dynamic and flexible, allowing the website to evolve with the project.
Ensure strong SEO, analytics integration, and performance optimization.
Implement and test different marketing and content presentation strategies — continuously improving the website’s clarity and user experience.
Evaluate and, if needed, advise on platform choices (e.g. moving away from current platform if it limits SEO or scaling).
Provide insights on impact — how your design and structure can translate into engagement, visibility, or measurable results (e.g. traffic, newsletter sign-ups).
Requirements
Strong experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and familiarity with CMS platforms (WordPress preferred; Squarespace experience a plus).
Proven ability to organize complex content into a clear, navigable structure.
Portfolio showcasing diverse web design projects or designs that closely align with our brand vision (clarity, accessibility, modern visual identity).
Understanding of SEO principles, analytics tracking, and conversion-oriented design.
Experience with UX/UI design tools (Figma, Adobe XD, etc.) and an eye for detail and typography.
Ability to work independently and propose creative, data-driven solutions.
Bonus: experience designing for research-based, NGO, or educational projects, or working with OSINT / data visualization.
What We’re Looking For
A developer/designer who can create a dynamic, yet easy to navigate website.
A website that feels modern, functional, and human-centered — with clear pathways for readers and potential partners to engage.
Someone comfortable discussing project impact, not just visuals — able to show how their past redesigns improved traffic, engagement, or clarity.
Portfolio & Application
Please include:
Your name and years of experience
Links to at least 2-3 previous projects (ideally including one redesign with analytics or engagement outcomes)
A brief note on why you’re interested and how your experience fits our goals
A link to your current portfolio
If you are passionate about our mission and want to amplify our message, we encourage you to apply! Please send your resume, portfolio and a brief cover letter detailing your experience and interest in this role to [email protected].
