Information sharing and knowledge building is a key tool in the arsenal of any OSINT community.

Resource

OFU Open Network

The OFU Open Network, an initiative by OSINT for Ukraine (OFU), fosters a vibrant online community through the OFU Discord server, promoting collaboration among students, volunteers, experts, and organisations. By connecting individuals aligned with OFU’s mission, it enables partnerships that advance education, problem-solving, and participation in tasks like War Games, competitions, and lower-tier projects. The network also supports OFU's efforts by encouraging voluntary contributions and donations, enhancing its capacity for sustainable impact.

Resource

Amsterdam Matrix

Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) has grown rapidly with the rise of user-generated content on platforms like Twitter/X, but verifying its reliability remains a challenge. The Amsterdam Matrix, developed by scholars and OSINT practitioners, offers a systematic framework for assessing trustworthiness based on 23 qualitative parameters. Presented at the 2024 Digital Methods Winter School and expanded by OSINT For Ukraine, the Matrix emphasizes evidence-based evaluation and shows potential for broader application across digital platforms, including future AI-driven verification tools.

Tool

OSINV Quality Checker (GPT)

This GPT helps you assess how trustworthy/untrustworthy is an Open Source Investigation which is based on the findings of our OSINT reliability project during the Digital Methods winter school at the University of Amsterdam (January 2024).

It is simple to use. Press the automated prompt to start the GPT and then upload your report/document for it to be analysed.
